Galicia’s highest road pass: up from Sobradelo past the Casaio slate quarries to an old ski station at the top, then down into León at La Baña. We rode it on our own trip.

Before you go

Watch for quarry lorries and grit near Casaio. Stop at the refuge at the top: we had lunch there and it was great. It has rooms too. At that height snow comes early, so check before you go.

Which way round

From Sobradelo up the OU-122 past Casaio and its slate quarries, over the top at more than 1,800 m and down to La Baña.

When it’s open

Usually open May to Nov. Opening depends on the snow, so check the status before you go.
