Kühtai at the top is a ski village with places to eat. Tourist sites say the road is kept open all year for drivers with winter kit, but we couldn't confirm that with the road authority: check before you set off.
Which way round
Either way between the Ötztal and the Sellrain valley; from the west it's a scenic way into Innsbruck.
