Before you go
Snow chains can be required in winter and ski traffic is heavy on weekends from December to April. In summer go early, before it gets hot in the city. It's often 15 degrees cooler at the top.
Which way round
Up and back the same way: the road above Pradollano is closed to traffic.
When it’s open
Normally open all year, though snow can close it for a day or two.
