Leave early to get ahead of the coaches, and take the Skellig Ring detour from Portmagee if you have an extra hour.
Which way round
Anticlockwise from Killorglin, the same way as the tour coaches, so you follow them rather than meeting them on narrow bends.
When it’s open
Normally open all year, though snow can close it for a day or two.
