The Stradale is in beta and is intended to be operated by a UK sole trader. The controller’s legal name, service address and public email will be inserted before commercial launch.
Information we collect
When you submit a review or a find, we may collect your chosen display name, vehicle details, ratings, comments, source links, photographs and submission time. Members may also store vehicles, mileage, renewal dates, itineraries, readiness checks, advert links, buying lists, wanted adverts and private notes. People replying to a wanted advert provide their name, email address, message and optionally a vehicle link. For tours explicitly marked as a Stradale partner, an availability enquiry may include your name, email, telephone number, country, party size, vehicle and trip notes. Independent tour listings link directly to the organiser and do not collect an enquiry through The Stradale. If you contact us or send pre-launch feedback, we may receive your name, email address and message. Hosting systems may also record basic technical and security logs.
Why we use it
We use information to publish and moderate useful community reports, respond to enquiries, correct records, prevent abuse and operate the site securely. We rely on legitimate interests for ordinary operation and moderation, and on consent where it is appropriate, including optional material you choose to submit.
Optional review reminders
If you request a reminder, we store your email address, chosen hotel or tour, trip end date, confirmation status and a hashed network identifier for abuse prevention. We send a confirmation email and, only after you confirm, one review request three days after your trip. You can cancel through the link in either email. Your address is removed when the reminder is sent or cancelled; unconfirmed requests expire after 24 hours, and failed delivery records are removed within 30 days by the reminder scheduler. This does not subscribe you to marketing or verify that you attended. Email delivery uses Resend when enabled.
Member accounts
Supabase handles account registration, email confirmation, passwords and sign-in sessions. We use your email address to send account confirmations and password-reset messages through Resend. Essential session cookies keep you signed in; they are not advertising cookies. Your display name is shown with content you choose to publish. Creating an account does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
Public contributions
Reviews, display names, vehicle details and submitted photographs may be visible publicly. Do not submit private information, number plates, faces or material you do not have the right to share. Contact us if you want a contribution reviewed or removed.
Private and shared member content
Roadbooks, Garage records and Buying watch lists are private to the signed-in member by default. If a member turns on sharing for a Roadbook or Buying Scrapbook, anyone with the unique link may view the information shown on that shared page. Garage renewal dates, private trip notes and readiness checks are not included. Members should not add booking references, registration documents, home addresses or other sensitive information to anything they intend to share.
Lists saved on your device
When the Buying watch list says “Saved on this device”, advert links, list names and your notes are stored in this browser so you can return to them. They are not uploaded to a member account or backed up by The Stradale. You can remove saved adverts in the list; clearing this site’s browser data removes its device-only lists.
Tour planning
Route calculations send your selected locations and route preferences to the routing service. If you use the Magic Route Planner or its day-by-day itinerary, your trip brief, route-stage details and suggested stays are processed by Cloudflare Workers AI (or OpenAI when configured). Suggested place names are sent to the place-search service to locate them on the map. Avoid adding sensitive personal information to your brief. A pseudonymous network identifier and request counts are retained briefly to enforce usage limits. When no AI service is configured, the route-based outline is generated in your browser without an AI request. Hotel searches open Booking.com with the destination, dates and occupancy you entered; Booking.com then applies its own privacy policy.
Wanted adverts and replies
Wanted adverts are public while their status is open. The buyer’s account email is not displayed. A person replying chooses to share their name, email, message and optional vehicle link with the member who posted the advert. That information appears in the member’s private inbox and should only be used to discuss that enquiry.
Partner tour enquiries
If a tour is explicitly marked as a Stradale partner and you request availability through The Stradale, we store the enquiry so it can be tracked and responded to. The details you submit may be shared with the named tour operator solely to answer the enquiry and discuss a possible booking. Submitting an enquiry does not create a booking or authorise payment.
Sharing, retention and transfers
Information may be handled by service providers used for hosting, storage, security and email. Submitted text and images may be processed by an automated content-safety provider solely to decide whether human review is needed. We do not sell personal information. We keep information only while it remains useful for the stated purpose, legal obligations or dispute handling, and review published contributions when removal is requested. Some providers may process information outside the UK using appropriate safeguards.
Cookies and third-party links
The Stradale itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser remembers that you’ve seen our one-line welcome note so it isn’t shown again; that stays on your device and is never sent to us. Links to Booking.com pass briefly through our affiliate partner Stay22 (stay22.com) on the way, so the booking can be credited to us; Stay22 and Booking.com may set their own cookies on their sites for that, under their own privacy policies. We pass them nothing about you beyond the link itself (the hotel or search, and any dates you chose). To see whether the route planner works for people, we count anonymous page views and planner steps (a visit, a trip described, a tour drafted, a day opened in Google Maps) with no cookies and nothing that identifies you. When you follow a link to another website, or tap an email address or phone number, we count the click (which site, and which of our pages you were on) in the same anonymous way, so we can show the organisers, hotels and venues we list what we send them. Third-party sites apply their own privacy and cookie policies after you leave The Stradale.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to processing. Use our contact page for an account or privacy request. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
